London is the capital city of England. The Government of the United Kingdom, led by the Prime Minister, is in London too. The Queen is officially head of the state and head of the church, she lives at Buckingham Palace.

In London there are people of different cultures and religions. In July 2010 the population of London was more than seven million.

One of London’s prime industries is tourism, there are beautiful places to visit for example, The Tower of London, Kew Gardens, the Palace of Westminster, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park, the British Museum, the National Gallery etc. The weather in London is generally wet, it rains a lot, but the climate is not that bad. London transport is very good, there are lots of trains which connect the city with the suroundings and there are also the famous double-decker red buses or the black cabs, London’s famous taxis. The official currency is the Pound Sterling .

In 1908, 1948 and 2012 London hosted the Olympic Games.
